The Privilege Of Pursuing Passion And Purpose

Pratiá. It’s pronounced PRAY-sha. My mother says it was a gift from God when she named me; it means She Shall Pray.” I’ve always loved my name because it was mine. Six billion people on this beautiful blue marble and I shared my name with no one. I’ve come to feel like it embodies me more each day.  It’s a bit strange and challenging at first glance, but very simple once you get a better understanding of it. That’s me. I’ve worn a lot of titles, earned a few degrees, learned a couple of languages, wandered through a dozen countries and have pocketed a myriad of skills that might seem a bit peculiar when you try to piece them all together, but really it’s a single, simple thread that weaves my journey together: passion.
Wife. Mother. Believer. Teacher. Leader. Author. It all comes down to a relentless passion to unwrap the gift of purpose inside of me. And I know I’m not the only one. That’s why you’re here, right? One way or another each of us is just trying to make manifest the best parts of ourselves whether at home, in the classroom, office or anywhere else. So let’s do it together. If you’re anything like me you know that life is short and time flies whether you’re languishing your nightmare or living your dreams, but only the latter makes the days worth living. Join me at the intersection of passion and purpose. Welcome. Let’s get to work.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
Colossians 3:23
